Terms of Service
Last updated: July 26, 2026 · Operated by 9punk LLC
These Terms are a legal agreement between you and 9punk LLC ("9punk," "we," "us") governing your use of Pager9 — the website at pager9.dev, the web app, the Android app, and the command-line hook. By creating an account or using Pager9, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Pager9.

1. What Pager9 is
Pager9 notifies you when your Claude Code sessions finish or need your input. Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool that runs in your terminal; Pager9 works by installing a hook into it on the machine you run it from. Pager9 works with Claude Code specifically — it does not work with Claude in a web browser (claude.ai) or the Claude desktop chat application, which do not support hooks. Pager9 is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic.
The hook sends session events — never your prompts, code, or files (see the Privacy Policy) — to our servers, which then send a push notification to your paired phone or browser. It is a convenience tool for developers, operated by 9punk LLC.
2. Eligibility & your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Pager9.
- Access is currently invite-only. We approve accounts at our discretion and may decline or revoke access.
- You sign in with Google. You are responsible for your account and for anything done through it.
- You are responsible for your hook keys and the machines you connect. Keep keys secret; if one leaks, revoke it in the app. Each machine gets its own key so you can revoke one without affecting the others.
3. No guarantee of delivery — do not rely on Pager9 for anything critical
Pager9 is a best-effort notifier, not a guaranteed alerting system. Whether and when a notification reaches you depends on many systems we do not control, including:
- Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging and Google Play Services;
- your internet or mobile network and carrier;
- your device's operating system and manufacturer battery/power optimizations (for example, Android "Doze");
- Do Not Disturb, notification permissions, and whether the app has been force-stopped or uninstalled.
Any of these can delay, silence, duplicate, or drop a notification, and pings are not guaranteed to arrive or to arrive on time.
YOU MUST NOT RELY ON PAGER9 FOR ANY SAFETY-CRITICAL, TIME-CRITICAL, MEDICAL, FINANCIAL, LIFE-SAFETY, OR EMERGENCY PURPOSE. It is a developer convenience for knowing when a coding session needs attention, and nothing more. Do not use it as your only or last line of alerting for anything that matters.
4. Acceptable use
Pager9 runs on shared infrastructure that we pay for per request. To keep it fast, affordable, and available for everyone, you agree not to:
- flood, hammer, or send excessive, automated, or machine-generated traffic to the hook endpoint or any Pager9 API;
- exceed, evade, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, the invite gate, or any usage cap;
- share, resell, sublicense, or provide your access, account, or keys to others, or use Pager9 to build a competing or resale service;
- deliberately overload, degrade, or interfere with our infrastructure, or attempt to run up our costs;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or probe the service in order to abuse it or defeat its protections;
- use Pager9 to send unlawful, harassing, or infringing content, or to violate anyone's rights or any law.
How we enforce this. We operate automated protections and reserve broad discretion to act against abuse. In particular, we may rate-limit, throttle, suspend or revoke keys, block, or terminate accounts or machines that we believe are abusing the service or violating these Terms. Our safeguards today include per-key and per-account rate limiting, a daily event ceiling with a visible throttle notice, individually-revocable per-machine keys, the invite-and-approval gate, capacity limits, and a spend kill-switch.
We are candid that these are largely reactive: requests reach our servers before our limits apply, so our controls reduce, throttle, and shut down abuse and cap our exposure — they do not perfectly prevent it, and we do not represent that they do. We may add, change, or remove protections at any time, and we may take action with or without notice.
5. Billing
- Right now, Pager9 is free. During early access nothing charges you, and no payment card is required. Everything below describes the model we intend to launch — none of it is live, and nothing can charge you today.
- When paid plans go live, Pager9 is expected to offer a 7-day free trial and a Pro plan at $7/month (annual pricing may also be offered). Prices, plan details, and timing may change before launch.
- Paid plans are intended to be sold only inside the Pager9 Android app, through Google Play Billing. There is no separate payment processor and we cannot charge you directly.
- Google is the seller and merchant of record for those purchases. Google Play takes the payment, handles any applicable taxes, and holds your payment details — we never receive or store your card number or billing information. Your subscription is purchased, managed, renewed, and cancelled through the Google Play Store, and Google's own terms and refund policy govern the transaction. Before any charge, Google presents the price and renewal terms, and a paid plan cannot begin charging you without your agreement in the Play Store.
- Cancellations and refunds go through Google Play, from your Play Store subscriptions screen, under Google's refund policy. We cannot start, stop, or refund a Google Play subscription for you, and any refund is at Google's discretion, not ours.
- Deleting your Pager9 account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Because Google owns the billing relationship, an active subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it in the Play Store — cancel there first, then delete your account.
- The web app stays free. Google Play Billing only functions inside an app distributed through Google Play, so there is no purchase path on the web at app.pager9.dev and we sell nothing there.
- Free tiers and usage limits may change, and we may introduce, modify, or discontinue paid features over time.
6. Termination
By you. You may stop using Pager9 at any time and delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account immediately and permanently erases your data, with no backups to restore from — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is removed. If you ever hold a paid subscription, cancel it in the Google Play Store first — deleting your account does not cancel it (Section 5).
By us. We may suspend or terminate your access — in whole or in part, with or without notice — if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue Pager9. If we terminate your account, your data is deleted on the same terms as a self-deletion.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12) survive.
7. Your content and our intellectual property
The limited data you send us (session events and the account details described in the Privacy Policy) remains yours; you grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you — to store it, compute your stats, and deliver your notifications.
Pager9, its software, branding, and the "Pager9" name are owned by 9punk LLC. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Pager9 for its intended purpose while you comply with these Terms. You get no other rights, and you may not copy, resell, or create derivative services from Pager9.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
PAGER9 IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 9PUNK LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT PAGER9 WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT NOTIFICATIONS WILL BE DELIVERED, TIMELY, ACCURATE, OR COMPLETE. YOU USE PAGER9 AT YOUR OWN RISK.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 9PUNK LLC AND ITS OWNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO PAGER9 — INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY MISSED, DELAYED, SILENCED, DUPLICATED, OR DROPPED NOTIFICATION, OR ANY DECISION MADE OR NOT MADE IN RELIANCE ON A NOTIFICATION — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO PAGER9 WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR PAGER9 IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50). Because Pager9 is currently free, this amount may be $0. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless 9punk LLC and its owners from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of Pager9, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to Pager9 or these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Texas, and you and 9punk LLC consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts. There is no arbitration requirement — disputes are resolved in the Texas courts described here.
12. Changes and general terms
- Changes. We may update these Terms as Pager9 evolves (for example, when billing launches). We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Pager9 after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent necessary.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and 9punk LLC regarding Pager9 and supersede any prior understanding.
